SCANDALS MISS UNIVERSE

Dalia Fernandez the official delegate to represent Miss Dominican Republic to Miss Universe has stirred once again the ever battle scarred topic that has been always associated with Pageantry : SCANDALS !!!

Its nothing new to hear that this miss won because of her influence or that miss got dethroned for no reason. But what is the truth?
Are they the most secret and the best weapon to gain momentum and publicity which are indeed made up stories where the candidates are playing their role ?
Or its a repercussion of a bad follow up to the crown?

Another big question : ARE THE ORGANISERS THE ULTIMATE LENDING HAND TO RISE OR SINK THE CONTROVERSIES ? Or is it the MEDIA?

Questions, questions everywhere? This vicious cirlce has such a powerful vortex that all the puppets [ Organisers, Contestants, Media] become a laughing entity at the end of the day.

When I try to look for an answer , it makes me to only one conclusion.

" NO PUBLICITY IS A BAD PUBLICITY" . Once you are out in the field you need to become a rat and join the ever hurdling rat race to ensure yourself that you gain maximum out of it"
It is just that some get covered up and some are left open wounded which will bleed on its on till its earthed!

Here are some of the biggest scandals in the Pageantry in RECENT TIMES which were either conspired or they happened for its own good sake .

1. MISS UNIVERSE 2002

By far one of the most tantalising end to Miss Universe reign. Often beholded the title of one of the best Miss Universe is now euphemism to DETHRONED .
Just four months into her reign and she was stripped of her title for being unprofessional in her commitments. The other side, She always wanted to carry on with her studies.

2. DISCRIMINATION TO RACE AND COLOR !!!
You will find plenty of controversies where a Miss is often being subjected to racial discrimination. The latest being Miss Great Britain contestant Shanna Bukhari was subjected to a tide of online hate messages after entering the qualifying rounds for choosing Britain's Miss Universe candidate. The reason ?? She is a Muslim.

One of the most stirred topic: ARE PAGEANT ORGANIZERS PREJUDICED TO BLACK CONTESTANTS? Due to the lack of impetus generated for black delegates to compete one often has to consolidate about the short comings when a deserving black candidate does not placed satisfactorily or not selected in the national pageants. And even if they are selected their dejection does not end. Classic example : Mpule Kwelagobe

3. CROWN AND NUDITY
This had to come, after all those controversies surounding and now the current scenario proposing the screening , it only makes us feel bad for all those contestants who were usurped of their glory just becuase of few topless pictures.

And this is much more prevelant in both the world ! When we see Bianca paz being toppled by BBP and duality of Donald trump who once was not in favor to Nudity the topic is yet to be concluded.
The recent photoshoot at MU 2010 just made matter worse for the Pageant scene where many contestants who are not comfortable in displaying nudity were subjected to it. The whole ambiguous nature will always be debated.

Miss Universe Dayana Mendoza kept her crown despite risque photos that showed the beauty queen topless, though covering most of her chest. The Miss Universe president said that Mendoza’s photographs had "artistic beauty. SO WHO ARE THE ONES THAT ARE GOING TO DECIDE ?
Miss America 1984 had to resign when some of her nude photos were leaked !

4. CHOICE OF ANSWER ?
Carrie Prejean's answer to a question from judge Perez Hilton about legalizing same-sex marriage during the Miss USA Pageant is completely biased. The controversy grew in ensuing weeks when Prejean became the spokesperson for a national group opposing same-sex unions, after which racy photos of her surfaced. Is is not credible to be open about your views? IS DIPLOMACY THE CORRECT WAY TO ANSWER ?

When we have a right to express our opinion, we should have that acceptability factor to respect peoples opinion.

5. SABOTAGE AND VANDALISM
Ingrid Rivera agitated several pageant fans when she was subjected to pepper sprayed on her gown and make up. Miss India 2002- Neha Dhupia was accused of being undeserving one and none of the contestant thought she was deserving enough. When in reality she indeed earned the ticket to MU for her performance at the national finals which brought the Pageant Organisers in bad picture as well.
