Scandals Miss Russia 2009

Nude photos of Miss Russia 2009 Sofia Rudieva that were circulated online days after she was crowned prompted the organizers to strip her of her title. Svetlana Stepankovskaya, the first runner-up will now go to Miss World and the second runner-up is more likely to compete at Miss Universe.

The nude photos of Sofia caught the Miss Russia organization off guard and considered the entire incident as a "stain" to its reputation. Russia is one of the countries that are closely watched in the international pageant. In 2008, Russians made the cut in all major four pageants with the exception of Miss International, and even took the Miss World crown.

Sofia Rudyeva, who reigned as Miss Russia 2009 when she was 18 years-old, had a huge scandal we overlooked in about March of 2009. Rudyeva competed for Miss Universe, but before she could take the stage pictures of Rudyeva hit the Internet showing her posing without clothes on.

The scandal almost prevented Rudyeva from competing for Miss Universe, but after apologizing and admitting the pictures were of her, the pageant officials allowed her to compete, and she lost.
